Striper Candy: Here we have a fantastic lure from the
states. It is a soft bait intended to be used like a hard bait, i.e. cast and retrieved around the rocks but is also obviously suitable for gilling. These come in 8 colours and 2
sizes, 6" sand eel size and 10" launce size. The 6" are packed in 3's, the 10" are packed in 2's.
They are made for us in the States by Reaction Strike. They have an amazing new concept, unlike many other soft plastics
which have simply got a hook / jighead moulded in them or inserted in them, these have a hook very similar but much stronger to our mullet hooks. They have a helix coil around the
shank. They are then connected to the second hook by 200lb test, 12 strand stainless wire. The helix stops the front hook from pulling loose which also anchors the rear hook so
this lure is practically indestructible by European fish. It also has the eyes moulded into the body then the lure is returned to the mould for a final clear coat of soft plastic
which prevents the eyes dropping out the first time the lure hits the water as on much cheaper imitations. These have a very subtle action the secret of which is a thin channel
moulded into the front third of the underside of the body. We have been fishing with them for about a year and we have taken all the usual species, both salt and freshwater, on
