What we have here is several examples from several companies of what is arguably the oldest hybrid lure. We believe these first hit the market in the late fifties and that the originals were made
by Mepps.
The concept has been copied numerous times by numerous companies since then. The fact remains these are a very effective lure, the larger ones for Pike, the smaller ones for Trout and Perch and
lately since they have been available in numerous colours as opposed to the plain pearl plastic of the original, they have been used quite successfully for Bass.
They are known by many names such as Shad spinner, Fish spinner, Spinnerfish etc. etc. and no lure box is complete without one or two.
