Freds: The Fred, originally produced by veteran Musky angler Fred McClintock way back in the early 70's, has been faithfully reproduced in the US with his full permission, faithfully replicated from three original baits from that era.

This bait has been extensively copied over the years and given all sorts of other names but these are as near to the original design as it is possible to get. They are much more subtle than all the copies. We have found that they cast better and more accurately, land more softly and have a much more enticing action whether used on top or sub-surface.

The actual body length is 8 1/2", 9" ring to ring. They are fitted with three Eagle Claw 4XXXX in size 4/O and come with Wolverine split rings as standard. These baits are extremely good value as they retail in the states for $18, that is before you have imported them and paid the tax.      Price...

Optimum Top Minnow: Here we have an interesting bait from a company with a great pedigree, the ultimate in hybrid lures, a cross between a Squirly Bert and a 1-Minus. The only way to describe the action of this bait is like a sub-surface Hawg Wobbler with a soft tail. It has a slightly tighter wiggle than a Hawg Wobbler which is amply compensated for with the soft paddle tail. Highly recommended  for shallow, weedy situations.  This lure can also be trolled along the marginal shelf of the larger rivers. We have had excellent results on the Thames.               Prices...

Salmo Floating & Sinking Jack The infamous floating Jack first appeared in 2001 and has since gained itself an excellent reputation as one of the easiest jerkbaits to use. Like the other Salmo jerkbaits it can be worked from a stationary boat or the bank or trolled at slow speeds, where it is a shallow runner that gets down to around 3'; Excellent for shallow weedy lakes and summer river fishing. When jerking use long downward sweeps of the rod as this lure is supposed to imitate a small darting jack, i.e. diving on the sweep and slowly rising back to the surface.

Superfreak Here we have a fantastic top water from the infamous Musky Innovations. The Superfreak is 11" in length and is what is known in the States as a wake bait. The Superfreak crawls on the surface imitating a large wounded bait fish with large internal rattles that emit a low frequency regular noise similar to the ticking of a clock.

This bait works best with a simple uncomplicated straight retrieve or slow troll. There is no necessity for twitching, pulling or tugging. On a straight retrieve the internal rattles are homed in on by large prey fish from a long way off. Twitching, pulling, tugging etc interferes with the attraction.

This was designed as a big crankbait so just crank it for best results.         Price....

Salmo Sweeper: Here we have another easy to use, almost "idiot proof" lure from Salmo. It is as easy to use as a Slider but doesn't sink quite as fast. It glides side to side effortlessly, turning through almost 180 degrees giving it one of the widest arcs of any jerkbait on the market. Like most of the other Salmo range this lure is an absolute must for any jerkbaiter here in the UK. In our opinion this is a dynamite jerkbait that will also troll but for best results use it as a jerkbait.             Price...
