The one piece ultralite is the simplest form of this tool and behaves like an extension of your hand with no flat spots. We have two listed below, a 1.3m, 1g to 10g, M8 carbon rod and the ultimate ultralite rod, a 90cm one piece carbon cross weave blank rated for 2g to 6g, but actually capable of casting a little more. Both these rods are fitted with single leg rings and both offer excellent value for money.

The ice / structure rod is actually quite a powerful little beast at a mere 74 cm. It is setup for multiplier use and is capable of casting anything up to 100g. This is quite obviously more a specialist rod than an ultralite.

All three of these rods have rapidly been finding favour with Kayak fishermen. While obviously not specifically designed for Kayak fishing their short length and single handed application makes them an obvious for the job, providing you bear in mind their limitations, i.e. the ultralites are designed for catching small fish and obtaining as much sport as possible. The shorter ice rod being especially useful for one-handed bait casting (please bear in mind these rods are not designed to push you off the rocks as they WILL break!)

Kayak Rod: Here we have another Ice fishing rod designed for catching Pike through a hole in the ice in the Arctic Circle. However this 1.3m rod lends itself excellently to Kayak fishing. At the moment there are no true purpose built Kayak rods. Although there are a few short rods that have had the word "Kayak" associated with them, this rod has been trialled throughout the summer and is short enough to be easily handle able by the most novice of Kayak anglers. It is made from solid carbon and its makers claim that under normal fishing conditions it is indestructible (this of course does not include pushing yourself off the rocks with it or using it as a paddle).

We have caught some truly huge fish with it, we have taken it out 30+ miles wrecking and hauled up some serious cod. It will easily handle anything you can reach with your Kayak. It has a great action, will cast the biggest of bass plugs or a couple of ounces and a whole squid bait. Although it is labeled as a Pike rod we truly believe this will rapidly gain favour amongst Kayakers.      Price...
